Talk:Hyde Dunn
Hyde Dunn's First Marriage[edit]
Most of the biographies written about John Henry "Hyde" Dunn name Fannie Scobell Oliver as his first wife; he married her while living in California during the mid-1900s. However, multiple records in his native England show that he had an earlier marriage which resulted in two children. One of the Australian Baha'i researchers I've talked to over the years said to me that it was "known" that "Hyde Dunn was actually married three times, but we don't talk about that", very likely because it was a painful topic (there's no evidence that Mr. Dunn ever saw his children again after moving to America in circa 1905). I've traced his children as best as I can - his son is last seen living in Ealing in 1939; his daughter never married and died in London in 1962 - unclear if there are any living descendants, but it's possible. All of this to say that I feel his first family should at least be acknowledged in his bio page, and I'm happy to put that in if it won't cause any issues. - Territorygal (talk) 14:13, 6 December 2023 (+08)
- I don't see any problem including historical details like this. Some consideration might be warranted if the individual was still alive however. David (talk) 10:04, 6 December 2023 (PST)
- Thanks, David. And I completely agree about consideration for living people (and/or their immediate descendants who might be hurt by certain info being public) - Territorygal (talk) 10:36, 8 December 2023 (+08)
