Suhayl Húshmand

Suhayl Húshmand (December 18, 1958 - June 28, 1983) was a Persian Bahá’í who was martyred in Iran.

Biography[edit]

Húshmand was born in Shiraz in 1958 in a house neighbouring the House of the Báb. He completed high school then obtained a certificate in plumbing and began working as a plumber.[1]

After the Revolution in Iran in 1979 two men attacked Húshmand while he was travelling to work and beat him severely. On another occasion his home was raided by Revolutionary Guards who confiscated all of his literature and personal documents. On October 7, 1982, he was arrested while waiting to meet his fiancé at a store. He was tortured severely during his imprisonment before being executed by hanging on June 28, 1982.[1]
