Shívá Mahmúdí Asadu’lláh-Zádih

Shívá Mahmúdí Asadu’lláh-Zádih (July 13, 1945 - January 4, 1982) was a Persian Bahá’í who served on the Local Spiritual Assembly of Tehran. She was martyred following the 1979 Revolution in Iran.

Asadu’lláh-Zádih was born Shívá Mahmúdí into a Bahá’í family in Tehran in 1945. Her father was a brother of Húshang Mahmúdí. She studied at Tehran University in her youth completing an Economics degree then worked as a teacher for a time before securing employment in National Television and National Radio. At some point she married a son of Husayn Asadu’lláh-Zádih.[1]
Asadu’lláh-Zádih was dismissed from her job due to being a Bahá’í in 1980 and was elected to the Local Spiritual Assembly of Tehran the same year. She was arrested at an Assembly meeting on November 2, 1981, alongside five fellow Assembly members and they were executed on January 4, 1982. Their bodies were not returned to their families for burial.[1]
