Dr. Sírús Rawshání (1927 - December 27, 1981) was a Persian Bahá’í who served on the National Spiritual Assembly of Iran. He was martyred for his beliefs following the Iranian Revolution.
Biography[edit]
Rawshání was born into a Bahá’í family in Tabriz in 1927. He enrolled into the Military Academy in 1946 where he studied medicine and after his military service he was employed by the Ministry of Health in Tabriz. At some point he was elected to the Local Spiritual Assembly of Tabriz.[1]
In 1973 Rawshání was transferred to Tehran in his role with the Ministry of Health. He was elected to the National Spiritual Assembly of Iran in late 1980 when the body was re-established after the previous membership was abducted. He was arrested during an Assembly meeting on December 13, 1981, and martyred by firing squad on December 27, 1981. His body was not returned to his family.[1]
