Dr. Robert C. Henderson is an American Bahá’í currently serving on the National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá’ís of the United States. He served as chair of the National Teaching Committee from 1973 to 1980.[1]

Background[edit]

Henderson completed a doctorate in education at the University of Massachusetts. His initiation and direction of the academic study Models of Unity: Racial, Ethnic and Religious on behalf of the National Spiritual Assembly in collaboration with the Chicago Human Relations Foundation in 1991 resulted in a landmark analysis of intergroup unity in the Chicago metropolitan area.[2]

He was invited by President Clinton’s Advisory Board on Race to participate in the religious forum as well as the U.S. Agency for International Development in Washington, D.C. to give a plenary address at the international conference on girls’ education which was titled Educating Girls: A Development Imperative.[2]

In his career Henderson co-founded and became Senior Vice-President of Air Atlanta, the first United States African-American owned jet airline in the history of aviation. As of 2019 he is serving as Principal Consultant for the Henderson Consulting Group and as co-developer and President of the Philanthropic Division of Baharicom Development Company, co-builder of the Africa Coast to Europe submarine cable system.[3]

In his personal life he is married to Paula, and they have three children. His mother, Wilma Ellis Kazemzadeh, has also served on the National Spiritual Assembly and on the Continental Board of Counsellors for the Americas.[4]
