Rúhu’lláh Hasúrí

Rúhu’lláh Hasúrí (1942 - January 21, 1985) was a Persian Bahá’í who was martyred in Iran.
Biography[edit]
Hasúrí was born in Sharifabad in the province of Yazd to Yahyá and Rubábih Hasúrí. He had three brothers and a sister and their mother passed when he was young.[1] He started his schooling in Sharifabad completing four years of elementary school, however in 1959 his father passed away so in order to support his family he moved to Tehran and began working.[1] While in Tehran he continued his education at night school ultimately completing a Diploma in electrical technology.[2]
In 1967 Hasúrí married Nusrat Mírzá’í and they had two sons.[1] In 1976 he moved to Yazd where he secured a job with the Radio and Television Department however in 1980 he was dismissed from his position due to being a Bahá’í as a result of the Iranian Revolution. He was appointed an assistant to Auxiliary Board member Zhínus Mahmúdí in 1980 and elected to the Local Spiritual Assembly of Yazd in 1982.[2]
On May 16, 1983, Hasúrí was arrested, interrogated for two hours, then released and instructed to report to the authorities the following morning. He was imprisoned the next day and held in solitary confinement for twenty-five days. On December 10, 1983, he was transferred to Sepah prison in Yazd and held until being executed by firing squad on January 21, 1985.[2]
