Rúhu’lláh Mumtází is a Persian Bahá’í who pioneered to Japan and served as Auxiliary Board and National Spiritual Assembly member, and also as a Continental Counselor for Asia.
Background[edit]
Mumtází was the son of Noureddin Mumtází,[1] a Persian Bahá’í who pioneered to Japan in 1953.[2]
Mumtází also pioneered to Japan in 1954 settling in Osaka.[3] In April 1957 Shoghi Effendi gave several goals to the National Spiritual Assembly of Northeast Asia including establishing the Faith on Hokkaido and Mumtází made an eleven day teaching trip to the island with Gekie Nakajima visiting members of the Ainu community to proclaim the Faith during their visit.[4]
By 1967 Mumtází was serving as an Auxiliary Board member and he visited Taiwan to attend the countries National Convention that year.[5] In 1968 the Universal House of Justice appointed him to the newly formed Continental Board of Counsellors for North East Asia and he was the first Counsellor to be based in Japan.[6]
In 1980 the Continental Boards for Asia were merged into one body and Mumtází was appointed to the new body for a five year term and was reappointed for a second term in 1985.[7][8]
