The Bahá'í belief rests on the idea that Bahá'u'lláh was the Promised One of All Ages. Each religion is part of the divine plan, and each religion promises the advent of the next. As the revelation of Bahá'u'lláh was to be the first one for the whole world, so this revelation was promised in each of the previous religions. This fulfilment, in the Person of Bahá'u'lláh, of all the prophecies of a World Teacher, was highlighted by Shoghi Effendi in the book, "God Passes By". In a passage in this book, he enumerates some of the titles by which the Promised One has hitherto been known, and explains that these all refer to Bahá'u'lláh.
