The term revelation is frequently found in Bahá'í writing, and has several applications. Essentially it refers to anything "revealed" from or by God. So, when the Manifestation of God feels information or inspiration coming through from an unknown source, He is experiencing (a) "revelation". The word is also used to encompass the entire body of Writings, of ideas and of inspired utterance of a particular Messenger, so Bahá'ís can speak of "the Revelation of Muhammad" or "the Revelation of Bahá'u'lláh". Further, the Messenger of God may choose to "reveal" something to His followers which He Himself has known for some time. This new information comes, of course, as a revelation to them. Much of the Writings of Bahá’u’lláh deal with various aspects of revelation itself, dealing with it as a process, and how that process (in part) works.
