Margaret 'Peggy' Ross (January 9, 1909 - January 24, 2000) was a Scottish Bahá’í who served on the National Spiritual Assembly of Canada and as an Auxiliary Board member for the Americas.
Background[edit]
Ross was born Margaret MacGregor in Dundee, Scotland, in 1909. She completed her educated at the Morgan Academy in Dundee and then moved to Canada where she married John Ross and they had three children.[1]
The Ross's became Bahá’ís in 1948 and she was elected to several Local Spiritual Assemblies in Canada before being elected to the National Spiritual Assembly in 1953. She traveled internationally to represent the Assembly at conventions in Singapore, Finland, and the United States, notably attending the dedication of the Wilmette Temple in 1953.[1]
She was appointed as an Auxiliary Board member in 1957 and continued to travel internationally as Board member visiting Australia, Europe, and Southeast Asia, and attending the dedication of the Samoa Temple in 1984 and the India Temple in 1986.[1] In the 1970's the Ross's settled in Saskatchewan where they served as custodians of the Fort Qu'Appelle Bahá’í Institute building.[1]
Ross passed away in 2000 in Toronto.[1]
