Parvíz Afnání

Mir Parvíz Afnání (1928 - January 1, 1979) was a Persian Bahá’í who was martyred.

Biography[edit]

Afnání was born in Aghej-dizaj in the Iranian province of East Azerbaijan but later established himself in Miyan-Duab also in East Azerbaijan. He established a business selling wood and earned a reputation for being honest and he also established a property where he raised sheep.[1]

On January 1, 1979, a mob assembled on his property and he attempted to negotiate with them to have them leave however one of the members of the mob began killing his sheep. Afnání's son Khusraw fired a shotgun in an attempt to disperse the mob but accidentally shot and killed a member of the mob and Afnání and his son were both hacked to death with sickles and their bodies were then burnt.[1]
