Palmdale is a city in the U.S. State of California. It is located in the north of Los Angeles County and the Antelope Valley of Southern California. A Bahá’í community was established in the city in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
History[edit]
As of 1968 Palmdale was a goal city for the American Bahá’ís to establish a Bahá’í community and that year a musical program to celebrate World Religion Day was held in the city by members of neighboring Bahá’í communities.[1]
The Local Spiritual Assembly of Palmdale had been established by 1971 but was in need of pioneers that year to maintain Assembly status.[2] In 1972 a weekend Bahá’í insitute was held in the city,[3] and by the 1990's the Assembly had been consolidated and was providing regular support for the National Fund.[4]
