Counsellor | Asia 2005 - Present |
Omid Seioshanseian is a Baháʼí currently serving as a Continental Counsellor for Asia.
Background[edit]
Seioshansian was born in Qatar into a family which has resided in the country for generations. He was appointed as a Counsellor in 2005 and in 2013 he represented the Universal House of Justice at the Kadugannawa Youth Conference in Sri Lanka.[1]
In August 2021 Seioshansian was forced to leave Qatar and moved to India.[2] He was banned from entering the country based on unspecified criminal and national security charges with no evidence being submitted prompting the Bahá’í International Community to raise concerns.[3] In December 2024 he was arrested while in Egypt and detained for thirteen hours at Cairo International Airport during which he was physically mistreated, interrogated, and threatened.[4]
