Background[edit]
Nisá’ was the daughter of Mírzá Buzurg and Khadíjih Khánum.[1] In approximately 1850 or 1851 she married Mírzá Majíd-i Áhi who worked for the Russian legation in Iran, serving as secretary for the Russian minister Dolgorouki, and they settled in the village of Zarkandih.[2]
In 1852 two Bábí's acting alone attempted to assassinate the Shah of Iran prompting a wave of persecution of the Bábí community. Bahá’u’lláh was travelling through Zarkandih around the time the attempt took place and was a guest of Nisá’ and her husband before being arrested when leaving the village.[3] In approximately 1853 Nisá’ passed away during childbirth after her first pregnancy and she had no surviving children.[4]
After her passing Nisá’'s body was transported to Baghdad with it arriving in 1854 after Bahá’u’lláh had been exiled to the city and He oversaw her burial in Baghdad.[5]
