Nguyễn Văn Lợi was a Vietnamese Bahá’í who served as a member of the National Spiritual Assembly of Vietnam and as an Auxiliary Board Member.[1]
He was first elected to the National Spiritual Assembly in 1966, but resigned in 1967 when he was appointed as an Auxiliary Board Member by Shoghi Effendi.[2]
In November 1991, Bahá’ís submitted a petition to the Department of Religions of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, asking for legal recognition of the Bahá’í community of that city and the permission to operate and hold activities. At the prompting of the authorities, an ad hoc committee of Bahá’ís was formed to pursue the process of legal recognition; Lợi served on this committee for several years.[3]
