A convention is a meeting at which Bahá'ís or their delegates come together with the twin purposes of electing a Bahá'í institution, discussing the affairs of the community, and making formal proposals for the Bahá'í institutions to consider.
Convention may refer to:
- Unit Convention
- The annual meeting of all the adult Bahá'ís in a given electoral area, at which they discuss the circumstances of the community and elect a delegate to the National Convention.
- At a Unit Convention, any Bahá'í present has the right to speak, but only adult Bahá'ís resident within the Unit have the right to vote for the Delegate, or to take part in any votes which may take place on other matters there.
- National Convention
- The annual meeting in each country at which delegates elect the National Spiritual Assembly and consult upon the situation of the community in their country.
- At a National Convention, the delegates, the members of the outgoing National Spiritual Assembly, members of the incoming National Spiritual Assembly, and such Counsellors as may be present have the right to speak. Other persons present are onlookers to the process.
- International Convention
- The gathering every five years of delegates from around the world to elect the Universal House of Justice.
