The National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá’ís of Egypt and Sudan was a body responsible for administrating the Bahá’í communities in Egypt and Sudan.
History[edit]
The National Spiritual Assembly of Egypt and Sudan was established in 1924.[1] In December 1934 it was incorporated with the Egyptian government as the National Spiritual Assembly of Egypt and in November 1949 the incorporation document was amended to make the body officially the Assembly of Egypt and Sudan.[2]
When the Ten Year Crusade began in 1953 the Assembly was given the responsibility of opening several African nations and territories to the Faith,[3] and coordinating pioneers in Northern Africa.[4] In 1956 the Assembly was reconstituted as the National Spiritual Assembly of North East Africa, with its responsibility expanding to administrating the Faith across several countries in North East Africa in addition to Egypt and Sudan.[5]
