Marguerite Preston
Marguerite Preston (d. February, 1952) was a British Bahá’í who served on the National Spiritual Assembly of the British Isles and pioneered to Kenya.
Biography[edit]
Preston was born Marguerite Wellby. She declared in 1936 and was elected to the National Spiritual Assembly of the British Isles in 1938 and served on the body until 1945.[1]
In August 1945 Marguerite married in Terence Preston who had a tea growing business in Kenya and after marrying she moved to Sotik, Kenya, joining her husband.[2] She was the only Bahá’í in the country until the early 1950's. They had three children before her husband passed unexpectedly in July, 1951.[1]
In late 1951 Preston visited England with her eldest son Adrian where she attended the Annual Teaching Conference and participated in consultations regarding the African Campaign. Both she and her son passed while returning to Kenya from England as their plane crashed in Sicily.[1]
