Dr. Mahmúd Majdhúb (1930 - December 27, 1981) was a Bahá’í who served on the National Spiritual Assemblies of Iran and Norway. He was martyred for his beliefs following the Iranian Revolution.

Biography[edit]

Majdhúb was born into a Bahá’í family in Malayir, Hamadan, in 1930. His family moved to Tehran in 1947 where he completed his high school education at night school while working. He then completed a law degree at Tehran University.[1]

In 1960 Majdhúb married then pioneered to Norway where he was elected to its inaugural National Spiritual Assembly in 1962 serving until he returned to Iran with his family. After arriving in Iran he settled in Tehran, completed a law doctorate at Tehran University, then established a private law practice.[1]

Majdhúb was elected to the National Spiritual Assembly of Iran in late 1980 when the body was re-established following the abduction and assumed martyrdom of the previous Assembly. On December 13, 1981, he was arrested at an Assembly meeting and he was martyred on December 27, 1981, in Tehran. His body was not returned to his family.[1]
