Jean Silver
Jean Silver (d. August 14, 1959) was an American Bahá’í who pioneered to Cuba.
Biography[edit]
Silver was a member of the Bahá’í community of New York.[1] In 1942 she began making preparations to pioneer to South America initially aiming to move to São Paulo, Brazil,[2] however due to visa difficulties she changed plans to attempting to move to Rosario, Argentina, as of January 1943.[3]
Silver successfully pioneered to Cuba in April, 1943, settling in Havana and immediately began assisting in facilitating children's classes.[4] She pioneered within Cuba to Cienfuegos in 1950,[5] and her efforts contributed to the establishment of the cities Local Spiritual Assembly in 1951.[6] She corresponded with Shoghi Effendi while at her pioneer posts receiving several letters.[7]
She returned to the United States at some point and passed away in Massachusetts in 1959.[7] The Custodians issued the following message after her passing:
"Assure prayers (at) Shrines (for) progress (of the) soul (of) Jean Silver, devoted servant (of the) Faith (in) teaching (in) pioneer fields."[8]
