Jamshíd Síyávushí

Jamshíd Síyávushí (1944 - June 16, 1983) was a Bahá’í who was martyred in Iran.
Biography[edit]
Síyávushí was born in Jordan to Persian parents in 1944. His family returned to Iran in his youth and he completed High School in Tehran.[1]
In 1972 Síyávushí married Táhirih Arjumandí and they pioneered to the village of Chenar, near Tehran. In 1974 they returned to Tehran remaining until 1976 when they pioneered to Yasuj in Fars Province. While in Yasuj Síyávushí established a electrical goods business and was elected to the Local Spiritual Assembly.[1]
In 1978 Síyávushí's family faced persecution for their beliefs with their home being attacked and his wife being dismissed from her employment and they moved to Shiraz where he was elected to the Local Spiritual Assembly of Shiraz in 1981. He was arrested on October 26, 1982, and held in solitary confinement and tortured for six weeks. His wife was also arrested on November 29, 1982.[1]
On June 16, 1983, Síyávushí was executed by hanging alongside five fellow Bahá’ís and his wife was also executed two days later. Their bodies were not returned to their families for burial.[1]
