Within a programme of growth, there should be an expansion phase of perhaps two weeks. During this time, collaborators should make every effort to reach out to new people. Such contacts as have been made during that time should then be followed up during the consolidation phase, which lasts perhaps ten weeks or so. It may be the case that the expansion phases which have the most impact are those where some form of planning has taken place, although clearly there are going to be many different factors involved.
In some clusters, the expansion phase includes an organised programme of proclamation or teaching the Faith supported by a certain number of people. In other clusters, the expansion phase consists solely of individual initiatives or small teaching teams. These, again, will probably involve a certain amount of planning. There will be many clusters where both an organised teaching campaign and individual initiatives exist side-by-side, especially given the scattered nature of the Bahá’í community within any one cluster. Organised teaching campaigns often begin each day with intense prayer and study of the Writings, or study of guidance on teaching work. Ruhi Book 6 contains sections dedicated to this type of activity.
