Within a programme of growth, the expansion phase of perhaps two weeks is followed by a consolidation phase of perhaps ten weeks. During this time, the believers should try to arrange follow-up meetings with the new contacts and new believers, try to begin study circles with them, and make efforts to arrange children's classes or junior youth groups as appropriate. Put simply, then, the fruits of the expansion phase will probably be the collection of new souls and the names of individuals, while the fruits of the consolidation phase will probably be new groups or activities set up. Obviously, during this period, fresh people may be met and have the Cause explained to them, but the general thrust of activity is to capitalise upon the activities and results of the expansion phase. The reasons for this are clear in clusters where the Expansion Phase produces a significant number of new Bahá'ís or promising contacts. Failure to organise activities into some sort of pattern would lead to lack of direction, and therefore vigour. The events of, and trends observed within, the Consolidation Phase may themselves readily provide ideas for the planning and reflection phases of the next cycle of growth.
