The Universal House of Justice has issued a long series of compilations from the Bahá'í Writings, on a wide variety of subjects. These have each been compiled by the Research Department of the Universal House of Justice itself, and the typical format will include:

  • A section consisting of extracts from the Writings of Bahá'u'lláh relevant to the subject.
  • Extracts from the Writings and Utterances of 'Abdu'l-Bahá
  • Extracts from the Writings of Shoghi Effendi
  • Extracts from letters written by the Universal House of Justice

As time goes on, there will of course be more material uncovered and more guidance from the Universal House of Justice itself, with the result that the compilations become longer and more thorough. Many of the compilations listed below exist in more than one edition, with the later editions having more material.

Whether any National Spiritual Assembly chooses to publish each compilation, or to circulate it among the Bahá'ís, is a matter for that N.S.A. itself. Certain countries with publishing trusts tended to print most of the compilations they received. However, sometimes a compilation received by a National Spiritual Assembly will seem less relevant, or be deemed to be inappropriate, for publication in that territory. There will, therefore, be variance between any lists compiled from such sources.
