The Birth of the Báb is the shorthand way of referring to the celebration of the date of the birth of Siyyid Ali-Muhammad, known as the Báb. This is celebrated as a Holy Day. He was born on October 20th, 1819. The Birth of the Báb and the Birth of Bahá'u'lláh both occurred earlier than the start date of the Badi calendar, and so were not celebrated according to that calendar. Accordingly, the Bahá'ís in countries using the Muslim calendar were celebrating these two events according to the Muslim calendar. Bahá'ís in Christian countries were celebrating them according to the "Christian" calendar. This anomaly ended in 2015, after the letter of July 10th, 2014 from the Universal House of Justice laid out a common form of reckoning for the "Twin Holy Birthdays", based on astronomical events set against the Badi calendar.
A meeting is usually held in order to mark the occasion, and may include prayers from the Báb Himself, and stories from His childhood.
