Bicentenary of the Birth of the Báb

As Bahá'u'lláh was born in 1817, and the Báb in 1819, the bicentenary of their births falls during 2017 and 2019. The Universal House of Justice has made it clear that they expect that the Bahá'ís will publicly celebrate these events. The periodical "Reflections on Growth", edition number 37, is all about communities in various countries preparing for these celebrations, as is number 38. A recent letter from the Universal House of Justice suggests that the heroic deeds of the early Bábís could be part of the information given out to the public as part of the celebration.

Preparatory material

A short, inexpensive, booklet entitled Three Heroic Followers of the Báb exists to share with members of the public, as does a leaflet entitled "Bicentenary of the Birth of the Báb". A simple biography of the Báb exists, entitled The Life of the Báb. For more prolific readers, there is an introduction to the life of the Báb entitled Hour of the Dawn, plus Hasan Balyúzí's book on The Bab . A film has been produced, on the life and time of the Báb, entitled The Gate, which has been generally well-received. The Universal House of Justice has released another video, entitled "Dawn of the Light".
