The Bahá’í Publishing Trust in the United Kingdom was the successor body to the Bahá’í Publishing Trust of the Bahá’ís of the British Isles. In the earlier years of the twentieth century, many of the books were stored in Manchester, in premises belonging to Albert Joseph. However, it was believed that these books were under threat of destruction from his family, who were not Bahá’ís, should he pass away. The books were therefore taken to premises deliberately rented in Rutland, in the English Midlands, together with other volumes hitherto stored elsewhere.

The Bahá’í Publishing Trust concentrated particularly on the publication of Bahá’í Scripture, prayer books and leaflets. Gradually, the range of literature produced widened. The Trust, however, served a second function, which was as the primary importer and distributor, for the British Bahá’ís, of literature from overseas, and of books published by independent publishers, such as George Ronald.

The Trust itself consisted of a panel of individuals appointed by the National Spiritual Assembly, with a Manager and staff undertaking the day-to-day work.

For a number of years the Manager was John Long. He was succeeded by Gordon Kerr, then by George Ballentyne, Alfred Sharpe and finally Stella Herbert.

In more recent years, the National Spiritual Assembly took the decision to cease publication of materials, which meant that the prime purpose of the Trust ceased. The successor body was called Bahá’í Books U.K., which sold from the existing stocks of B.P.T. publications, but continued the import and distribution functions within the U.K. The popular "Jewels" series of compilations from the works of 'Abdu'l-Bahá are now published by the B.P.T. of Australia.
