The phrase Area Teaching Committee has been used at different times in the growth of the Faith, but its usage in the early twenty-first century indicates the body charged with co-ordinating or overseeing the progress of the teaching and expansion work within a cluster. The Committee works with the guidance of the Regional Council or National Spiritual Assembly, and Auxiliary Board members. The Committee encourages the establishment of devotional meetings, home visits, and teaching efforts. It collaborates with the Training Institute, which works with study circles, junior youth groups, and children's classes.
The ATC is also responsible for coordinating the cluster-level reflection meetings after every 3 month cycle so the community is able to reflect and plan for the next cycle. (Planning/Expansion/Consolidation) In some clusters, additional reflection meetings take place in neighborhoods, communities, and along specific lines of action. For example, hosts of devotional gatherings may get together once every few months to share experiences in addition to the cluster-wide three-month reflection gathering.
