- ‘Abdu'l-Bahá writes a commentary on an Islamic tradition titled Sharh-i Kuntu Kanzan Makhfiyan.
- Mullá Sádiq and his son Ibn-i-Asdaq meet Bahá'u'lláh in Baghdad. They are both later named Hands of the Cause.
- The Kitab-i-Iqan (Book of Certitude) is revealed in two days and nights, either in late 1861 or early 1862.
