Yúnis Nawrúzí-Iránzád

Yúnis Nawrúzí-Iránzád (August 9, 1926 - November 1, 1984) was a Persian Bahá’í who was martyred in Iran.

Nawrúzí was born into a Bahá’í family in Marand, Azerbaijan Province, in 1926. He completed primary school in Azerbaijan then moved to Tehran to complete high school. After graduating he completed his military service then became a teacher working for the Ministry of Education in Abadan.[1]
Nawrúzí was fired by the Ministry of Education at some point due to being a Bahá’í and moved Sirjan where he began working for the National Bank of Iran. He was later returned to Fasa and then Tehran by the Bank before retiring in 1978. He pioneered to Karaj after retirement and was elected to the Local Spiritual Assembly of Karaj.[1]
In 1981 Nawrúzí's pension was terminated due to him being a Bahá’í and on July 27, 1983, he was arrested in his home in Karaj. He was held in Evin prison where he was tortured over an extended period before being executed by hanging on November 1, 1984.[1]
