History[edit]
As of 1938 there was one Bahá’í living in Wheaton,[1] and by 1944 Wheaton was noted as a locality having isolated Bahá’ís without any formalized administrative structure.[2] As of 1968 a community had grown and the Local Spiritual Assembly of Wheaton was established that year.[3]
In 1970 a copy of Proclamation of Bahá’u’lláh was presented to the Mayor of Wheaton on World Religion Day.[4] In 1974 Wheaton was noted as a community which was providing sustained support to the Bahá’í National Fund.[5]
In 1998 the Wheaton Bahá’í community contributed a stall to the DuPage County Fair which resulted in a large distribution of teaching materials.[6]
