Waukegan is a city of the U.S. State of Illinois. It is considered a suburb of Chicago.
History[edit]
Early teaching work in Waukegan was conducted by Corinne True.[1] By 1938 there were eight people attending a weekly study class on the Faith who were interested in joining the religion,[2] and in 1939 an organized Bahá’í group for Waukegan was formed with eight members.[3] In 1940 the community was able to establish the Local Spiritual Assembly of Waukegan.[4]
The Bahá’í community of Waukegan has remained active to the present day, with the community dedicating a tree in Bowen Park in 2021 after assisting in several neighborhood cleanups.[5]
