Turning Point For All Nations was a statement issued by the Bahá'í International Community on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the United Nations Organisation, in October 1995. It was published in booklet form, approximately A4 size, and consisted of five main sections:
- Overview
- Recognising the Historical Context
- Defining a Role for the UN
- Releasing the Power of the Individual
- A Call to World Leaders
The third and fourth sections particularly are replete with very direct and practical suggestions on, for example, raising the minimum requirements for membership of the General Assembly, on a Border Commission, a universal auxiliary language, a single currency, limiting the veto, institutionalising military arrangements, collective security, strengthening the World Court, promoting economic development, protecting human rights, advancing the status of women, etc., etc. The document even suggests the appointment of a United Nations Commission to combat terrorism. Had this last idea been taken up, much of recent history would have been quite different in character.
In the United Kingdom, the attention of the Bahá'í community was not really drawn to the publication of this document, and many Bahá'ís seem unaware of it.
