Template:Cite
This template uses Lua: |
{{cite|Some Book Title}}
will use data stored on bahaidata.org to populate a citation, changing something like {{cite|Robv1}} or {{cite|Q4291}} into:
- Adib Taherzadeh (1976). The Revelation of Bahá’u’lláh, Volume 1: Baghdad, 1853–63. United Kingdom: George Ronald. ISBN 0853980527.
Valid input titles[edit]
- Bahaidata item numbers corresponding to the book title, eg: Q4291 as in {{cite|Q4291}}
- Bahaipedia articles corresponding to the book title, eg: The Revelation of Bahá’u’lláh, Volume 1 as in {{cite|The Revelation of Bahá’u’lláh, Volume 1}}
- Any Bahaipedia redirect to a valid article that corresponds to the book title, eg: Robv1 as in {{cite|Robv1}}
Note: If you are using the item number but still want a descriptive human readable name as part of the reference you can use named references like this: <ref name=ROBVolume1>{{cite|Q4291}}</ref>. Later in the article you can use <ref name=ROBVolume1 /> to refer to the same citation.
Citing a specific page[edit]
To cite from a specific page add that information to the end of the template: eg {{cite|Some Title|105-110}}
- The pages can be in any format, a single number, a range of numbers or a comma separated list of numbers
Invalid input titles[edit]
If you try and cite from some book for which no corresponding Bahaidata entry has been created like this: {{cite|A Brand New Title|55-57}} then the result will be: A Brand New Title, pp. 55-57 and the article will be added to the category Articles requiring Bahaidata input. Hopefully someone will be along to add the required information to Bahaidata, after which the full citations will be displayed in the article.
Avoid certain publications[edit]
Do not use this template to cite from publications listed under Automatic citation templates on the page Bahaipedia:Citing sources, data for those publications may already exist on Bahaidata in a way that is incompatible with this template.
