Siyyid Abdu’l-’Azim-i-Khu’i
Siyyid Abdu’l-’Azim-i-Khu’i, also known by the title Siyyid-i-Khal-Dar, was an early Bábí.
In 1849 Abdu’l-’Azim was one of the Bábí's who joined Mullá Ḥusayn when he gathered a force of Bábí's and traveled across Mazandaran. He participated in the Battle of Shaykh Tabarsí which lasted from January to May of 1849 notably conveying orders from Quddús to Mullá Ḥusayn during one of the skirmishes.[1]
He survived the Battle of Tabarsí and avoided imprisonment allowing him to travel to Yazd in early 1850 where he joined Vahíd who had established himself in his house and was experiencing success in teaching the Bábí Faith gathering a large amount of followers. Navváb-i-Radaví, a prominent Shaykhí, instigated persecution against the Bábí's of Yazd and after a government regiment which had besieged the house of Vahíd was dispersed Navváb assembled a militia to attack the Bábí's. Vahíd tasked Abdu’l-’Azim with peacefully dispersing the mob and he rode his horse throughout the city in order to publicly announce in streets and bazaars that Vahíd did not intend to use violence except in self defense and this successfully discouraged the mob from attacking the house.[2]
