Sifátu’lláh Fahandizh

Sifátu’lláh Fahandizh Saadi (1933 - December 14, 1978) was a Persian Bahá’í who was martyred.
Biography[edit]
Fahandizh was born in Saadi near Shiraz in 1933. After completing elementary school he joined the military and he served in the military for the rest of his life. At some point he was elected to the Local Spiritual Assembly of Saadi.[1]
On December 14, 1978, rioting broke out in Saadi with Bahá’í homes being targeted and looted by mobs.[2] When Fahandizh returned home from a hunting trip that day his home was attacked by rioters and he went out onto his roof and shot his hunting firearm into the air in an attempt to disperse the mob. Instead the mob became more agitated and Fahandizh was shot and killed when the situation escalated and soldiers intervened. His body was not returned to his family after his passing.[1]
