Service is a virtue characterized by the act of assisting others, or performing helpful actions for the benefit of others.

It could also refer to:

  • Year of service – a period of time which an individual devotes to some form of service;

  • Devotional gatherings – a form of regular communal worship during which Bahá’ís pray and meditate on the Creative Word of God—the equivalent of a church service without clergy;
  • Nineteen Day Feast – a regular gathering including devotions, administrative consultation, and socializing;
  • Weddings – ceremonies to celebrate marriage;
  • Funerals – ceremonies to mark a person's death;
    • Burial – the burial of the body of a person who has died;
    • Cremation – burning of the body of a person who has died (disallowed for Bahá’ís except in very specific circumstances);
    • Memorials – gatherings to mark the anniversary of a person's death;
  • Naming ceremony – an optional, non-ritualized ceremony upon the birth of a child
