San Mateo is a city in the U.S. State of California. It is located in San Mateo County in the San Francisco Bay Area.
History
[edit]There were Bahá’ís living in San Mateo as early as 1911,[1] and that year Aminu’llah Fareed and Lua Getsinger spent two days in the city during a travel teaching trip across California delivering talks to large audiences in collaboration with the Federation of Women's Clubs.[2]
In 1946 the Bahá’í community of nearby Burlingame begin assisting the San Mateo Bahá’ís with teaching efforts aiming to establish a Local Spiritual Assembly in the city,[3] and in 1947 the Local Spiritual Assembly of San Mateo was established.[4]
