Súriy-i-Ṣabr

Súriy-i-Ṣabr or Lawh-i-Ayyub, provisionally translated as the Súrih of Patience or the Tablet of Job, is a Tablet revealed by Bahá’u’lláh. It is approximately one fourth the length of the Kitáb-i-Íqán. Extracts from it have been officially translated by Shoghi Effendi.

In a letter published in World Order of Bahá’u’lláh Shoghi Effendi places the revelation of this Tablet in Baghdad in 1863 on the first day of Riḍván after Bahá’u’lláhs arrival in the garden of Riḍván. In that letter Shoghi Effendi translates some extracts relevant to the nature of the Dispensation of Bahá’u’lláh. Marzieh Gail notes that the Tablet also extols the believers who had suffered in Nayríz.

Karen Webb notes that the Tablet focuses on discussing the stories of Job, the Biblical and Qur'anic figure, Hájí Muhammad-Taqi, a Babi from Nayríz, and Bahá’u’lláh. She also suggests that the Tablet may be the first written indication of Bahá’u’lláh's station to His followers, albeit through the use of highly metaphorical language which seems at first to be a deflection to avoid discussion of His station.

Foad Seddigh has listed the topics covered in the Tablet as being "Seal of the Prophets, Beholding the Countenance of God, Appearance of God in the Shelter of the Clouds, attaining the presence of God, Great Announcement, the Hour, Day of Resurrection, the Trumpet Call, and clarification of other puzzling references in past scriptures, particularly the holy Qur’án."
