Dr. Rouhollah Golmohammadi (1929 - February 16, 1999) was a Persian Bahá’í who pioneered to Europe where he assisted with the development of the Bahá’í communities of Sweden and Hungary serving on their National Spiritual Assemblies.
Biography[edit]
Golmohammadi was born into a Bahá’í family in Tehran in 1929. He became the head of a textile factory while working in Iran.[1]
In January 1960 Golmohammadi pioneered to Sweden with his sister's family, settling in Uppsala, and he was elected to the Local Spiritual Assembly of Uppsala that year. He completed a PhD in organic chemistry at the University of Uppsala while living in the city and was elected to the inaugural National Spiritual Assembly of Sweden in 1962.[1]
In 1963 Golmohammadi attended the First Bahá’í World Congress in London and the First International Convention in the Holy Land as a member of the Swedish National Assembly, and he went on the attend seven more International Conventions as a delegate. In 1964 he married Elizabeth Beven and they went on to have two children.[1]
The Golmohammadi's pioneered to Hungary in 1994 and Rouhollah was elected to the National Spiritual Assembly after a short time serving on the body until his passing. He passed away in 1999 in Uppsala. The Universal House of Justice conveyed the following in a message after his passing:
. . . dedication to the Faith, his many years of devoted, persevering service in both the teaching and administrative spheres. . .in Sweden and latterly in Hungary, his gentle, loving, unifying spirit, all combine to win for him an enduring place in the annals of the Bahá’í communities of those countries.[1]
