Rouhollah Ghedami

Rouhollah Ghedami (1924 - June 15, 1992) was a Persian Bahá’í who was abducted and martyred in Iran.
Backgroun[edit]
Ghedami worked for the Iranian Railways. By the 1970's he had retired and was maintaining a farm in the village of Muẓaffariyyeh. He was denied his government pension after the Iranian Revolution began in 1979 as he was a Bahá’í.[1]
On June 15, 1992, two men abducted Ghedami from his home. They forced him to sign a document stating that hewas transferring ownership of a property over to them and they then stabbed and strangled him then burnt his body by a highway. After several days his remains were found by police and in September 1993 the two men who abducted him were foun guilty of abduction and murdered, however the Court ruled that as Ghedami was a Bahá’í the kidnappers could not be punished for deliberate murder as they would have been if Ghedami was a Muslim. They were ultimately sentenced to eighteen months imprisonment including time served.[1]
