Roan Orloff Stone
Sadie "Roan" Orloff Stone (July 30, 1906 - January 1, 1993) was an Austrian Bahá’í who was a notable Esperantist.
Biography[edit]
Orloff was born Sadie Draisen in Vienna, Austria, in 1906.[1] She was an active Esperantist and was known internationally for promoting the language.[2]
In 1933 Orloff became a Bahá’í and she was appointed to the International Auxiliary Language Committee by the National Spiritual Assembly of the United States serving in the 1930's and 1940's. She later co-founded Bahaa Esperanto-Liggo, an international organization for Bahá’í Esperantists, serving as the bodies secretary for many years and translating The Dawn-Breakers into Esperanto.[2]
In 1961 Orloff married James Stone in Boston. She passed away in Hallsville, Texas, in 1993.[3]
