Revelation writing

From Bahaipedia
Jump to:navigation, search
Detail of "revelation writing" by Mírzá Áqá Ján, produced while transcribing the Third Tajallí.

Revelation writing is a type of handwritten shorthand script used by the amanuenses of Bahá’u’lláh, to record the words of His revelation as they were dictated. This script had to be written very quickly due to the speed of the dictation, thus it appears less neat than more formal types of writing. Drafts in this script were then reviewed by Bahá’u’lláh and used to produce formal copies of sacred writings.[1]
