Rahmanian Foundation
The Rahmanian Foundation is a Bahá’í inspired organization which aims to support the education of children living in rural Bangladesh who have little access to educational facilities.
Background[edit]
In 1979 Bahá’ís in Bangladesh began supporting the formation of small scale tutorial schools in Rajshahi and the neighboring village of Godagari to improve literacy and also provided training to help individuals provide education to their children in rural villages. In 1999 the Rahmanian Foundation was established to support the project with Mahmood Rahmanian funding the work of the organization.[1]
Under the Foundation a full time academy was established.[1] Educational classes for children and youth are provided at the academy in Rajshahi with the curriculum covering standard academic subjects but also including life skills relevant to rural health, hygiene, and sustainable development, and also cover personality development, social development issues such as gender equality and resolving social issues, and spiritual morality.[2]
As of 2015 the Foundation was focusing on becoming self sufficient,[3] and expanding its efforts from providing education to also supporting agriculture.[4]
