Rahím Rahímíyán

Rahím Rahímíyán (May 1, 1932 - April 4, 1984) was a Persian Bahá’í who was martyred in Iran.

Biography[edit]

Rahímíyán was born into a Bahá’í family in Arak in 1932. He was initially raised in Arak but by 1946 the family had moved to Tehran and that year he began working. He worked in several different fields until establishing himself at a plaster manufacturing mill.[1]

In 1964 Rahímíyán married and pioneered to Narmak. He pioneered internationally in 1978 moving to India with his family however due to visa issues they were only able to remain for eight months before returning to Iran.[1]

On May 4, 1983, Rahímíyán was arrested in his home and held in solitary confinement in Gohardasht prison for three months. On February 22, 1984, he was transferred to Evin prison and again placed in solitary confinement and severely tortured. On April 4, 1984, he was executed by firing squad alongside two fellow Bahá’ís. His body was not returned to his family for burial.[1]
