Pamphlets

The words pamphlet and leaflet are used somewhat interchangeably. However, in general a piece of paper folded once or twice is referred to as a leaflet, whereas a pamphlet is either a larger piece of paper with a more complicated fold or a number of pages stitched or stapled together. Historically, pamphlets have played an important role in social and political development, as reformers often published their ideas in pamphlet form, pamphlets being more easily transported, disseminated and digested by the public than full-sized, hard-back, books.
Over the years a large number of Bahá'í pamphlets have been written. Some have been general introductions to the Faith. Others have been on specific subjects, such as "Life After Death", "The Human Soul and Its Immortality", or "Science and Religion" (a notable one written by Hand of the Cause Mr. Furutan). They were more widely used during a time in which obtaining information was generally more difficult than it is today. Institutions which published them include the Publishing Trust of the United States, the Publishing Trust in India and the Bahá’í Publishing Trust of the British Isles. The publisher Special Ideas produces a number of small booklets which could be termed pamphlets, with titles such as "Poor in All Save God" and "The Ocean of Healing".
