Oneworld Publications

From Bahaipedia
Jump to:navigation, search

Oneworld Publications is an independent publishing house which focuses on publishing non-fiction. While it is inspired by a Bahá'í worldview it does not aim to be a Bahá'í publishing company, as its founders felt that other publishers already fulfilled this role.[1]

History[edit]

Oneworld was established by Juliet and Novin Doostdar in 1986, and was based in Cyprus. As Cyprus did not have a sufficiently well-developed publishing infrastructure, the company moved to Oxford, England. Their titles include many Bahá’í books, works on the study of religion, and academic works. For some years, their titles included a number of books aimed at children from Bahá’í families, such as, A Treasury of Bahá’í Prayers and The Love of Bahá'u'lláh. Each year they published two catalogues, one designed for Bahá’ís, and the other for academic institutions.

In recent years, they have concentrated on distributing books through universities, libraries and trade bookshops, and have expanded their catalog beyond Bahá’í family material, however they continue to publish Bahá’í material, including the book The Baha'i Faith in Words and Images, which has been used as part of presentations to dignitaries and academics.
