Nusratu’lláh Díyá’í

Nusratu’lláh Díyá’í (1923 - March 19, 1984) was a Persian Bahá’í who was martyred in Iran.

Díyá’í was born into a Bahá’í family in Kirman in 1923. In his professional career he worked for the Telecommunications and Post Ministry of Iran and worked in several cities across Kirman Province in the role. In the early 1960's he settled in Baft as a pioneer.[1]
On January 1, 1984, Díyá’í was arrested alongside his wife and son, Mehran, at their home. His son was released after a little over a month and his wife was released after two and a half months. Díyá’í was severely tortured while imprisoned being thrown down a set of stairs, beaten until his skull was fractured, and was subject to frequent mock executions which involved shots being fired over his head. He was hospitalized twice due to injuries sustained during torture and passed during his second hospitalization on March 19, 1984. His body was not returned to his family for burial.[2]
