In 1975 a Bahá’í Unity Feast was held at the University of Oklahoma,[3] and in 1976 thirty Bahá’ís participated in a teaching campaign in the city.[4] As of 1978 there were approximately forty Bahá’ís living in Norman and that year they distributed 20,000 pamphlets to proclaim the Bahá’í Faith in the city and also paid for newspaper advertisements and went door to door to invite resident to Bahá’í public meetings.[5]
In 1979 a billboard designed by Bahá’í children in Norman was displayed for a month at the University of Oklahoma's College of Education,[6] and by 1983 a Bahá’í College Club had been established at the University which sponsored a Conference on the Bahá’í view of the word that year.[7] In 1989 the Local Spiritual Assembly of Norman was commended for consistently supporting the National Fund that year.[8]
