The National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá’ís of Vanuatu is the Bahá’í administrative body responsible for the country of Vanuatu (previously New Hebride).
Formed[edit]
In 1953, the New Hebrides was assigned to the National Spiritual Assembly of Australia and New Zealand for development.[1] In 1959 when the new National Spiritual Assembly of the South Pacific Islands was formed, the New Hebrides were reassigned to the new National Assembly.[2] In 1964 when the National Assembly of the South Pacific Islands was dissolved, the New Hebrides were assigned to the new National Spiritual Assembly of the South West Pacific Ocean.[3]
The National Spiritual Assembly of Vanuatu was established in 1977 as the National Spiritual Assembly of the New Hebrides.[4] The New Hebrides gained independence in 1977 and was renamed Vanuatu.
